Hello David, I hope this email finds you and yours in good health. I am attaching a file on my research of the Dorough name. I believe that it shows our name has its roots in Ireland and not Scotland as I now believe that the Darrochs are either a seperate surname or are descended from the Dubhdaras of Ireland. I would like to register the surname with the Clans of Ireland Office as I believe the information qualifys us. The application requires us to have Clan Officers in advance. Perhaps we can use the officers of the Dorough Family Association if they are interested. Have you heard anything as to the status of the Dorough Family Association. Are you still an officer. Since Robert passed has anyone continued his work?? I have not heard of much going on .I once spoke to him and he mentioned he might pass his files on to Stephen Barber. Has there been any word on this?It seems since Robert and Tom are gone there is litttle interest or should I say no direction. I myself have not done as much as I should.I hope to spend more time on the history and origin of our surname and to perhaps generate interest in Family Gatherings and Clan Status.Let me know what you think. All the Best Richard Dorrough ........................................................................... Response.......Richard, Thanks for the e-mail. I still have the interest in genealogy but no time to pursue it. To my knowledge there has been no activity with the Association since Robert passed and I have not had any contact with Stephen Barber recently. I probably have an old phone number or address for him in the files and I'll dig it out if you need it. Let me know if you proceed with the registration and feel free to use my name in any way that is helpful (and copy me on any useful information).
